Fact-Based Drug Policy Reporting

Changing The Narrative is a network of reporters, researchers, academics, and advocates concerned about the way media represents drug use and addiction.

Changing The Narrative’s mission is to help journalists and opinion leaders provide accurate, humane, and scientifically-grounded information in this contested terrain. They offer expert sources—including people with lived experience of the issues—and up-to-date, fact-checked, and evidence-based information on news and controversies.

Considerations For Photography

The National Harm Reduction Coalition recommends the following considerations when choosing photography to accompany discussions of drug policy:
  • Choose images that honor the experiences and dignity of people who use drugs
  • Bring light to the harm reduction community
  • Be considerate of visual aversions and sensational imagery
